After a storm, a giant telephone line is washed up on the island. The professor works out away to tap into the line to make calls.

Many numbers are ‘dialled’ but they all end in people hanging up because they think it’s a crank call or the person doesn’t speak English.

Finally, they connect to an operator but when they are instructed to insert a dime if they wish to continue the call they exhaust all their options.

After another storm hits the island, the next morning they discover the cable has been pulled back out to sea. The castaways hope the phone company will send out a repair crew, leading to their rescue sometime in the near future.
