Episode 23 (S2) – SHIP AHOAX

The castaways are arguing with each other and generally irritable. The professor diagnoses ‘Island fever’ and suggests hope of a rescue would raise people’s spirits.

He persuades Ginger to pretend she has clairvoyant powers and can ‘see’ a ship coming soon to rescue them.

Ginger predicts a rescue the next night at 8:30pm and everyone gets excited. By coincidence, the castaways hear on the radio that the U.S Navy has deployed ships looking for a downed satellite in the same area the Minnow was last seen.

Ginger begins to believe her powers are real but then takes things too far when she conducts a seance. Later, she feels guilty and confesses her abilities were faked.

Episode 22 (S2) – FORWARD MARCH

A live WW2 hand grenade is found on the island. This leads the castaways to believe there is an enemy in their midst.

The men form a squadron led by ‘General Howell’. Soon, more hand grenades are exploded on the island and machine gun fire is also heard.

Everyone undergoes military style training – including ‘guerilla warfare tactics’ – in preparation for an attack from a still unseen, mysterious enemy.

Eventually the ‘enemy’ is revealed to be a rogue gorilla, thought to have been living on the island since WW2 and having observed humans engage in warfare.

Episode 21 – GILLIGAN’S LIVING DOLL

A robot (model #R1000) lands on the island attached to a parachute. The castaways put it to many uses while holding hope the Airforce will come looking for it. Later they hear on the radio the search for the robot has been called off.

The Professor instructs the robot to build a boat but instead it constructs a tiny model boat. Next, the robot is instructed to swim to Hawaii but gets no further than the lagoon where it sinks.

The Professor’s Plan B is for the robot to walk to Hawaii, which he calculates will take 111 hours. Before leaving the robot is programmed with an audio message giving the co-ordinates of the island and a plea for rescue.

A week later the castaways learn on the radio the robot did reach Hawaii but its programmed message was all garbled because a rabbit’s foot totem (belonging to Gilligan) was found lodged inside the mechanism which ‘demagnetized the robots receptor spools.’

Episode 20 (S2) – LOVE ME, LOVE MY SKIPPER

Invitations are handed out to the Howell’s annual dance cotillion. Mr Howell is assigned the task of delivering them but doesn’t notice dropping one when he bumps into a tree.

Everyone receives their invitation except the Skipper. He naturally wonders why he is the only person on the island not invited and concludes he has been snubbed. Gilligan then decides if the Skipper is not going he also will not attend.

Everyone then decides to join the Skipper and Gilligan in a no-show. Instead they throw their own party. The Howell’s wonder what they have done to offend everyone. Gilligan then finds the skippers missing invitation.

The Howell’s have an argument and separate. The rest of the castaways device a plan to reunite them. They stage a fancy-dress party where everyone wears a mask. The plan works and the Howells are reunited.

Episode 19 (S2) – SEER GILLIGAN

After eating sunflower seeds, Gilligan can read people’s minds. Everyone begins pestering Gilligan to tell them where on the island the sunflower seed bush is so that they too can have the ability.

Gilligan refuses to say but eventually gathers together enough seeds to give everyone their own supply.

Soon, many quarrels begin breaking out because everyone’s most intimate and private thoughts are now known.

When the fighting continues, Gilligan decides to burn the seed bush. The skipper says it’s the most heroic thing he’s ever seen Gilligan do.

Episode 18 (S2) – THE POSTMAN COMETH

Gilligan and Mary Anne put a message in a bottle and throw it out to sea. They later hear on the radio the bottle has been found by shipping tycoon Horris Hickinbottom, who happens to be an old flame of Marry Anne’s.

Mary Anne becomes despondent with the news that Horris is now happily married while she struggles for survival on the island. Ginger advises her the only way to get over a man is to get another man.

Ginger begins secretly ‘training’ Gilligan, the Skipper and the Professor on the finer points of charm and seduction.

Eventually Mary Anne learns the truth of why the men are being so nice to her. She declares she is now over Horris and that he was kind of a creep anyway.

Episode 17 (S2) – YOU’VE BEEN DISCONNECTED

After a storm, a giant telephone line is washed up on the island. The professor works out away to tap into the line to make calls.

Many numbers are ‘dialled’ but they all end in people hanging up because they think it’s a crank call or the person doesn’t speak English.

Finally, they connect to an operator but when they are instructed to insert a dime if they wish to continue the call they exhaust all their options.

After another storm hits the island, the next morning they discover the cable has been pulled back out to sea. The castaways hope the phone company will send out a repair crew, leading to their rescue sometime in the near future.

Episode 16 (S2) – NOT GUILTY

While fishing in the lagoon, Gilligan reels in an old crate. When he and the skipper prize it open they discover inside is nothing but coconuts wrapped in newspaper.

Upon closer inspection they read an article on one of the newspaper pages that reveals one of the passengers onboard the missing SS Minow is wanted for murder.

When they both share the news with the others, everyone becomes a suspect and suspicious of their fellow islanders. In a group truth session, everyone admits they knew the victim, Randolph Blake, and had reason to dislike him.

They decide to reenact the crime with a facsimile of the real murder weapon, a speargun. What they happily discover is that the ‘murder’ was in fact an accident.

The trigger mechanism of the speargun was activated accidentally by the slamming of a door.

Episode 15 (S2) – ERIKA TIFFANY SMITH TO THE RESCUE

A glamorous and rich heiress (Gza Gza Gabor) named Erika lands on the island. She says she’s looking to build a luxury hotel at a remote location, and this seems perfect.

Both the Professor and the Skipper commence falling in love with her. Ginger gives lessons to the Professor on how to woo a woman.

After a storm the next morning they discover Erika is gone and returned to the mainland. Listening in on the radio, they hear her talk about her remote island experience but she admits she has forgotten the exact coordinates to find it again.

Episode 14 (S2) – MINE HERO

While fishing, Gilligan reels in an old WW2 mine.

The mine has a timer attached to the top which gets activated when Gilligan’s fishing rod accidentally falls on it. Gilligan and Mr Howell then get ‘stuck’ to the mine when the rings and chains they are wearing become magnetised.

Ending up the hero, Gilligan tows the mine out into the lagoon on the back of a raft where it safely detonates.
