A robot (model #R1000) lands on the island attached to a parachute. The castaways put it to many uses while holding hope the Airforce will come looking for it. Later they hear on the radio the search for the robot has been called off.

The Professor instructs the robot to build a boat but instead it constructs a tiny model boat. Next, the robot is instructed to swim to Hawaii but gets no further than the lagoon where it sinks.

The Professor’s Plan B is for the robot to walk to Hawaii, which he calculates will take 111 hours. Before leaving the robot is programmed with an audio message giving the co-ordinates of the island and a plea for rescue.

A week later the castaways learn on the radio the robot did reach Hawaii but its programmed message was all garbled because a rabbit’s foot totem (belonging to Gilligan) was found lodged inside the mechanism which ‘demagnetized the robots receptor spools.’
